Affordable Solar Power? Really (this time)?
Submitted by Tom Goddard on December 18, 2007 - 2:35pm.An easy-to-miss article in today’s NY Times (page C5) caught my eye today: “Start-Up Sells Solar Panels at Lower-Than-Usual Cost.”
Actually, though, the headline understates the point of the article. The real news, it seems to me, is buried in the fifth paragraph: the manufacturer’s CEO “claims to be the first solar panel manufacturer to be able to profitably sell solar panels for less than one dollar a watt. That is the price at which solar energy becomes less expensive than coal.”
